Liz Maloney

Welcome ...    I have been painting upstate New York for the past seven years as I watch it transform into a destination for the arts and waterfront relaxation.   I have studied painting in Rochester, Manhattan, Paris, and Ireland.

About my current series:  The pieces in my gallery are a collection of sociologiocal landscapes, the most recent of which reflect the socio-economic history of the Hudson Valley, from slavery in Ulster County to the paleolithic Indians of the Adirondacks, to the  Borscht Belt of the Catskills.  Earlier works feature nocturnes of Troy NY, after the fading western light that makes the city so beautiful.  Some of the paintings are done in a direct painting method, and others are rendered in a gouache [an opaque watercolor] and ink technique with some exciting results.

Thanks for your interest in my work and support of the arts.

"Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul".
--Wassily Kandinsky
